Water Audits

A water audit helps identify where water is used and equipment or practices that can be modified to reduce water consumption. The purpose of a water audit is to educate water users about the wise use of water, and to make their homes, community facilities and businesses as water efficient as possible.

Your macwater water audit consultant can compare water saving appliances and fittings, assess areas in your building where your water consumption is greatest and advise on potential water saving for now and in the future.

Indoors, a water auditor may:

• Identify leaks – a leaking tap can waste 120 litres of water a day
• Check for inefficient plumbing fixtures and appliances, as well as leaking toilets and taps
• Adjust the water level in the toilet tank, if necessary
• Install low-flow showerheads and aerators, if needed
• Provide advice about water efficient appliances that can reduce your water consumption.

Outdoors, a water auditor may:

• Show the user how to read their meter and how to check for leaks
• If a leak is determined, estimate the amount of water lost
• Check hoses, pools, fountains and ponds for leaks
• Review irrigation schedules and make recommendations if needed
• Check for broken sprinkler heads and excessive runoff.
